What are
the benefits of Fraxel Laser Treatments?
|
Studies suggest that on average, an effective treatment regimen is 4-5 sessions, spaced about 4 weeks apart. Depending upon your condition and schedule, you and your Physician may choose to space treatment sessions even further apart. Results are immediate and progressive. Optimal improvement is usually visible in about 2 to 3 months.
Yes, Fraxel Laser Treatments can safely treat all skin types. More than 250,000 Fraxel Laser procedures have been successfully performed to date on a wide variety of skin types.
Most patients describe this treatment as having a "prickling" sensation or the feeling of getting too much sun. The topical anaesthetic ointment and air cooling alleviates most discomfort.
The skin is prepared for treatment by first being cleansed. A topical anaesthetic is applied to the treatment area 1 hour prior to treatment. The procedure takes between 20 and 25 minutes for a full face.
Swelling and redness are the most common side effects from treatment. Swelling does occur and will subside within 2-3 days. Redness may occur and will fade within a few days. There is a very limited risk of infection or scarring.
During the first 24 hours your skin may feel as though is sunburned, and it will appear pink or red. Some patients may experience slight swelling which will subside after 2-3 days. Make-up can be worn to reduce the sunburned appearance. Your skin will naturally bronze over the next week or two. As you continue treatment, the sunburned to bronze conditions repeat. Your skin will flake and exfoliate normally. Using copious moisturizer will help to reduce the appearance of dry flakes.
Wear sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher and avoid direct sun exposure while you're healing for at least 3 months after your last treatment. Further protect yourself by wearing wide-brimmed hats if you expect to be out in the sun.
